» REMODELS & ADDITIONS

Remodeling is really an art form, particularly where additions are concerned. If you do an addition on your house and visitors who never saw the house before the work was done can tell you added on, it wasn’t done right. A good remodel should blend artfully and purposefully into the existing structure, not stick out like a sore thumb. Even when the addition uses different finishes, colors and materials, the transition should still be intentional and pleasing. Ridgeline has done a lot of remodel work over the years. Everything from small bathroom remodels to complete, whole-house renovations, to 3000 square foot additions. And with each project, we worked hard to combine new with old in a seamless and satisfying transition that highlighted the best of what came before while showcasing the beauty and craftsmanship of the new work.

Remodeling consists of changing existing fixtures, colors, cabinetry or flooring. For the most part remodels are pretty straight-forward. If you are contemplating a remodel, let us show you how we can make your whole house look like new construction for a fraction of what a new build would cost. Our professional Finishing Specialist will work with you to coordinate the colors and styles that will ensure your remodel is everything you’ve been dreaming it would be.

A renovation takes remodeling to the extreme. When we renovate a house, we replace everything. We typically renovate older homes built in the early part of last century. These homes have classic lines and architectural features that make them distinctive and unique. It is critically important when renovating to retain all the features that make the house distinctive and special while upgrading and modernizing everything that detracts from owning a vintage home. Things like plumbing, electrical and heating and ventilation are always upgraded so there are no issues with the joy of owning a home that may be 80, 90 or 100 years old. But items like doors, moulding, trim and drywall or plaster texture can be critical to maintaining that distinctive style and must be considered and incorporated into any period-correct renovation that strives to retain the charm, elegance and character of a vintage home. Ridgeline specializes in this with our Heritage Quality renovations, to the point where a neighbor, who was standing in the 1000 square foot addition we had just completed, told our customer she had played in this very house as a little girl… and didn’t remember it was so big, never realizing she was standing in the part that had been added but thinking it was part of the original home.

Additions are straight-forward from a construction stand point but can be tricky when it comes to integrating them into the existing home. Is the existing house plumb and level so the addition can be added evenly or do we need to address an out-of-level or non-standard structure when the addition is added? How can we artfully tie the new addition into the existing structure so that the entire home feels like it is one cohesive whole when we finish rather than two separate structures that have been forced together? Ridgeline addresses all of these questions and more with every addition we build. Very often an addition also incorporates extensive remodel work and then it is critically important to blend the old with the new, again so that cohesive whole can be accomplished. The final project has to look like it was intentional and well thought out, not simple stuck on the side of the house.

Ridgeline has years of experience building additions, renovations and remodels as well as our new construction proficiency. Our staff averages 20 years of construction experience and our lead foreman has 30, all of it right here in the Northwest. Call us today to discuss your remodel, addition or renovation.
